American Sail Training Association

The mission of the American Sail Training Association is to encourage character building through sail training, promote sail training to the North American public, and support education under sail.

Community Boating Center

CBC began operation in 1994 by a group of local sailors who wanted to share their passion for sailing with others. They believed sailing should not be limited to the privileged few. Instead, they felt the joy, freedom and responsibility of sailing should be available to everyone, regardless of income or background.

Carpenter’s Boat Shop

Founded in 1979, the Carpenter's Boat Shop is an apprenticeship-school and community for all people. Whether apprentices are between college and life careers, jobs and new directions, alcoholism and sobriety, or simply transitioning into retirement, the Boat Shop provides a safe harbor before setting sail on a new course in life. While considering goals and directions, apprentices live in community and learn boatbuilding, carpentry, furniture making, sailing, seamanship, and perform community service. They also explore personal faith through reading, study, and discussion.

The Port Townsend Marine Science Center (PTMSC) engages and inspires people of all ages in understanding and protecting our coastal and marine environment.

Friends of Casco Bay

Friends of Casco Bay is a marine stewardship organization founded in 1989 to improve and protect the environmental health of Casco Bay. We are recognized for our “work with” approach in seeking effective solutions to problems that threaten the health of the Bay. Our work involves advocacy, education & outreach, water quality monitoring, and collaborative partnerships

American Red Cross

Since its founding in 1881 by visionary leader Clara Barton, the American Red Cross has been the nation's premier emergency response organization. As part of a worldwide movement that offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war, the American Red Cross distinguishes itself by also aiding victims of devastating natural disasters. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services, always with the aim of preventing and relieving suffering.

Museum of Yachting

For more than 25 years, the Museum of Yachting (MoY) has worked to preserve the culture and heritage of yachting.  Situated on one of the most beautiful seaside locations in New England, today the Museum celebrates the traditions of yachting through the presentation of informative exhibits and educational programming.

Maine Island Trail Association

The Maine Island Trail Association’s goal is to establish a model of thoughtful use and volunteer stewardship for the Maine islands that will assure their conservation in a natural state while providing an exceptional recreational asset that is maintained and cared for by the people who use it.

Piers Park Sailing

Our mission is to use Boston Harbor and the seas beyond to provide year-round recreational, educational and personal growth opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Our commitments represent the three pillars of our organization, Outreach, Empowerment and Adventure: Outreach to at-risk youth, Empowerment for people with disabilities and Adventure for everyone to become a part of the natural environment.

Schooner Inc is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and personal growth by providing educational experiences in marine science, sailing, and the history of Long Island Sound and its watershed.

The Apprenticeshop

The Apprenticeshop is a school for traditional boatbuilding and seamanship, whose mission is to inspire personal growth through craftsmanship, community and traditions of the sea.  Utilizing the model of experiential education, students learn by doing—whether it is at the helm of a sailboat or behind a traditional hand tool, Apprenticeshop students gain self-reliance, tenacity, endurance and team-building skills through hands-on experience.

Maine Maritime Museum

Maine Maritime Museum celebrates Maine’s maritime heritage and culture in order to educate the community and a world-wide audience about the important role of Maine in regional and global maritime activities.  The Museum accomplishes its stewardship through:  discriminate collection, preservation and dissemination of historic materials and information, engaging educational programs, relevant and compelling exhibitions, and a unique historic shipyard, all connecting the past to contemporary and future issues.

Penobscot Marine Museum

Penobscot Marine Museum is the first and oldest maritime museum in Maine. Its mission is to preserve, interpret and celebrate the maritime culture of the Penobscot Bay region and beyond through collections, education, and community engagement.

Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences

Scientific exploration at Bigelow Laboratory ranges from the study of single-celled ocean microbes to fieldwork on the open seas and analysis of satellite images of global ecosystems. Our primary research focus is on the biogeochemical processes of the world's oceans, in order to advance society's understanding of the interactions between marine ecosystems, global climate, and the environment.
