The Apprenticeshop

The Apprenticeshop is a school for traditional boatbuilding and seamanship, whose mission is to inspire personal growth through craftsmanship, community and traditions of the sea. Utilizing the model of experiential education, students learn by doing—whether it is at the helm of a sailboat or behind a traditional hand tool, Apprenticeshop students gain self-reliance, tenacity, endurance and team-building skills through hands-on experience.

Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences

OceansWide

We are a non-profit offering adventures in education and research to students through ocean exploration. We support industry and marine research by developing programming that seeks to use ROV’s to inspire young people with first hand shipboard experience. We are dedicated to supporting science and education around the world. OceansWide educational programs are supported through contracts created with partnering institutions and donations from our supporters. The income generated through these contracts goes directly into educational programs.

Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries

Founded in 2003, the non-profit’s mission is to secure a diversified future for the communities of Eastern Maine and beyond by providing innovative programs that lend value to today’s fishermen, and drive more sustainable management approaches for future fishery connections using the knowledge of fishermen, the findings of scientists, and the world of policy makers.

Boothbay Harbor Junior Program Foundation

The Foundation’s Mission is to educate children and promote amateur sailing, tennis and golf sports for all community residents through the use of the Junior Programs of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club; to teach basic seamanship and safety in handling and use of small boats; to foster physical well being in the children; to teach good sportsmanship and responsibility to others; to advance interested participants in intermediate and advanced sports competition and to foster competitive sports activities and events.
