This beautiful classic Sport fisher conjures images of a Hemmingway novel.  She has a few projects that need to be done, but is in over-all great shape.  She would make a great live-aboard, and a great cruiser.  Donation is pending, and we are actively seeking interested parties who are not afraid of wood to commit to her continued preservation.  Proceeds from this boat will go to the Herreshoff Museum.  She will be priced accordingly, with consideration given to survey and agreed upon preservation plan.  Please make an appointment today to see this wonderful yacht.

Most of her hull and frames seems to be in very good shape.  She has been lightly used each season, and has been on a project schedule for the duration of her current ownership.  Her transom was recently rebuilt, and she has been well looked after.

Layout:

Starting forward is her large captain’s cabin.  Glass between the cabin and the salon keeps the cabin well lit, along with several opening ports, and a hatch.  The large double berth can be split up to make two very comfortable bunks. Lockers below the berth, as well as two good sized hanging lockers make for plenty of stowage.

The salon is bright and roomy, with over 6’of standing room throughout.  On the starboard side is a bench that pulls out to make a very comfortable berth.  Port side along the length of the table is a wrap around seat that seats three to four.  The table folds up to accommodate six people easily.

The galley is huge, and is a pleasure to cook at.  It has a large sink with pressurized hot and cold water, a large three burner propane stove with oven, a refrigerator that can also be reached from the pilot house, and a freezer.  There is also plenty of stowage.

The head has a stand up shower, sink automatic toilet, and plenty of locker space for all toiletries.

A few steps up, her pilot house has the feel of a proper sport fishing machine, with a helm station to starboard fit for one prepared to take command.  The pilot house serves well as the perfect place to entertain at sunset as well.  To port you will find a nav station with a pull out chart table, as well as easy access to the refrigerator.  Aft to port is a couch that pulls out to sleep two comfortably.

The afterdeck begs to be fished, or to be lounged upon, with huge sliding doors to make an easy trip back and forth, teak decks, rod holders, and easy access to the lazarette below.

The crown of course Is the fly bridge with one long bench that will fit three easily, and a remote helm where one can pilot the boat with a commanding view all around.  There is room after for several deck chairs as well.  There is a folding Bimini cover that provides shade on the hot days, then folds easily away for easy starlight navigation.

Hull/Decks:

Her hull and decks are in good shape for the most part.  We would recommend re-packing and fairing most of the bottom.   See projects section for more.

She has two recent Mercruiser MIE 340 gasoline engines.  The port engine had new risers last year.  Both are in excellent running condition.  They have been maintained by the yard mechanic, with regular service.

The engine room is easily accessed via raising panels in the pilot house.  There one can easily access the engines, engine intake valves, batteries, etc.  The engine room is clean and in excellent order.  Fuel tanks are Monel.

Electrical:

DC:  She has 4 batteries all charged by the engines alternators, led via an isolator switch to a panel on the helm station for easy access.  She has a 20 amp battery charger as well.

AC:

She has an ac system with the panel under the fridge in the galley.  There are outlets in all appropriate places, including GFI in the head.

Electronics:

VHF radio

Some extra equipment:

Fenders

Lines

Fire extinguishers

Projects/Issues:

There are a few planks and a frame along the starboard side quarter above the waterline that should be addressed.  The affected area is about three feet high by one foot wide. Several of the planks are soft enough to allow water in.

The decks around the pulpit bases also need to be tended to.  See photos.

There are some soft corners in the pilot house.  It is very much salvageable, but should be attended to soon.

We recommend having a survey by a wood boat specialist to get a full list of projects that need to be done.

One could keep this boat afloat dockside with basic patching done as she is now.  However, our goal is to find a candidate to take over proper stewardship of this classic.
