Block Island Maritime Funding is a non-profit organization whose purpose is the creation and financial support of marine science programs for children in grades K through 12. "Marine Science" encompasses the disciplines of marine biology, marine ecosystems, fisheries science and the development of traditional marine skills such as navigation, sailing and boat building.

Maritime Funding, working with other non-profit organizations, specializes in programs for children from varied socio-economic backgrounds without regard to race, creed or religion. A special emphasis is placed on disadvantaged children from inner city locations.
