1972 Bertram sport fish for sale. Recent engines with under 300 hrs. recent Awlgrip. This classic Bertram is ready to go!

With many updates/upgrades this Beautiful 28 represents a perfect example of a contemporary classic that people look for in a well kept Bertram. We took her from Jamestown to Allen's harbor at the end of October. She cruised along quietly at 15 to 18 knots with very little effort. She is a dream to handle. With her twin engines, and smooth transmissions, docking is very easy.

Recent improvements include:

  • New engines in 03
  • New fuel tank in 07
  • Hull Awlgripped 04
  • New drip less stuffing boxes 03
  • Upgraded AC system (not sure of year)
  • Bottom stripped and barrier coated professionally 05

Layout:

  • The fly bridge is well laid out with all controls easily usable from the bench seat. There is room for three adults on the recently re-upholstered bench. A canvas Bimini top keeps thing shady and cool.
  • The covered aft deck is a great place to hunt big fish, set up water toys, or to sit back and watch the sunset.
  • Heading bellow to the cabin is a treat, with a very classic feel. While the boat has had many upgrades most of the new gear is well hidden, giving the boat a very original style.
  • In the main cabin there is a helm station to starboard, with a settee behind it. The galley is to port forward. It has a refrigerator, microwave, Stainless sink with hot and cold water, and lots of stowage. The private head is aft to port, with hot and cold sink, lockers, and a Mansfield vacuum flush toilet system plumed to a holding tank.
  • All the way forward is the v berth. The DC electric panel is installed on the port bulkhead of the forward cabin.

Engines:

  • Inboard Marine Power EMPS5.7VL-BT Vortex 350 installed in 2003
  • Serial numbers: Port; 33470, Starboard; 33043
  • Hours: 270 port 337 hours starboard. The starboard hour meter may be incorrect: the donor reports they have always been run together.

Electrical:

  • The electrical system has had several upgrades.
  • Her DC system includes three batteries with appropriate fuses and breakers. We tested the 12 volt system on the way to Allen's harbor, and found all electrical systems as well as electronics working, including running lights, interior lights, vhf, depth sounder, etc.
  • Her AC system has been upgraded with updated wiring and a Xantrex Freedom Ten inverter/charger with panel monitor.

Electronics:

  • Navman Tracker 5600 GPS chart plotter
  • Standard digital depth and speed
  • President 580 VHF (upper station), Standard Intrepid VHF (lower)
  • Aquameter Saturn compass

Some extra equipment:

  • Custom canvas cover on fly bridge
  • Teak swim platform with ladder
  • shower faucet in the aft cockpit
  • Igloo 128 cooler with cushion
  • Deck chairs
  • Teak anchor platform with roller
  • Delta anchor with rode on roller
  • Danforth anchor with rode
  • Simpson Lawrence anchor windlass
  • Flag and teak staff
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Ac dock chord
  • Two Rule 1500 bilge pumps with float switches
  • Privacy curtain on windshield
  • Several PFDs, including several youth PFDs
  • Horse shoe life ring
  • Distress signals, portable horn etc.
  • Various fenders and lines

Projects/Issues:

  • Her starboard engine batteries were rather low when we started her up. They will most likely need to be replaced.

How does the charter/sale arrangement work?

Most boats can be purchased for their current appraised value or chartered on a long term basis (minimum three years) with an option to purchase. The purchase price of chartered vessels is usually established at the beginning of the lease and reflects the anticipated market value of the boat three years hence. If a charterer elects to exercise the option and purchase the vessel at the end of the charter, all charter payments are credited against the agreed upon purchase price. There are no interest charges or financing fees, etc. The charterer may also choose not to exercise his or her purchase option, in which case the security deposit will be returned.  Charter payments will be kept as charter hire. Broker commissions are generally paid in full at the commencement of the charter. For more information, please contact us by email or call us at (401) 842-0752.
